LEGO Star Wars Magazine Issue 119: The Qui-Gon Jinn Jedi Hiding on the Cover

The most interesting thing about LEGO Star Wars magazine issue 119 is stuck to the front of it: a paper-bagged Qui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi Knight from The Phantom Menace, taken from the 25th-anniversary Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator set (75383). It's a figure that most fans first met in a much bigger box, and here it arrives on its own.

The Jedi on the Cover

Qui-Gon is the sort of character LEGO fans keep wanting in better detail, and this version is a good one. It's the later production-run figure with the dark brown beard printing, which matches the figure in the set almost one-for-one. Collectors tracking the set noted that early copies of the set's Qui-Gon had a reddish-brown beard before the change, so the magazine figure is the more common variant.

What you get is a double-sided head, printed legs, the classic hairpiece he has worn since 1999 and a green lightsaber. The only thing missing compared with the boxed set is his poncho.

Quick Facts

  • Issue: 119 in the UK numbering
  • Gift: Qui-Gon Jinn minifigure, from set 75383
  • Publisher: Immediate Media, UK newsstand only
  • On shelves: early 2025, so this is a back issue now
  • Numbering quirk: the same Qui-Gon was in issue 118 on the continental European run, so the UK sequence sits one number behind that for this gift

Comics, Posters and Puzzles

Around the figure you get the Immediate Media mix aimed at younger Star Wars fans: comic adventures set in the galaxy far, far away, posters to pin up, puzzles and competitions with LEGO sets as prizes. It isn't a collector's catalogue, and it doesn't need to be. For a child, the reading is what keeps the issue in use after the bag is open.

The Collector Angle

Is a figure that also appears in a larger set worth chasing? Sometimes yes, and here are the reasons:

  • It's an easy way to own a Jedi. If you want a Qui-Gon for a display scene but not the whole Infiltrator build, this is the simple route in terms of shelf space and effort.
  • It sits between two Mandalore-era gifts. The neighbouring issues in the run lean toward Season 3 Imperial troops, so a Jedi stands out on a back-issue shelf.
  • Sealed copies are thinning. Retailers such as Mags Direct list this issue as sold out, which is typical for a UK exclusive LEGO magazine more than a year after it hit shelves.

Buying Tip: Check the Number

Because European and UK issue numbers don't always line up, the listing title can send you to the wrong magazine. When you're shopping for LEGO Star Wars magazine issue 119, confirm that the seller is showing the Qui-Gon Jinn gift and a UK Immediate Media cover, and that the bag is still sealed. If the seller can't tell you what is in the bag, move on.
