Newsagent and supermarket shelves across the UK picked up a new arrival at the end of July 2026, and for once the free gift is the headline rather than the footnote. LEGO Star Wars magazine issue 139 is out now from Immediate Media, and clipped to the cover is a Galactic Marine minifigure — a clone variant that, until this issue, had exactly one route into a collection.

Inside the Issue: Comics, Puzzles and Posters
Set the foil pack aside for a moment and issue 139 runs the format Immediate Media has kept remarkably steady for more than a decade. There's an original LEGO-styled comic strip built around a Star Wars adventure, brick-themed puzzle and activity pages pitched at the magazine's core 6–11 readership, a fold-out poster, and competitions offering readers a shot at winning additional LEGO sets. It's a quick, well-paced read that does its job on a car journey or a rainy afternoon.
For adult collectors, though, the magazine pages are the wrapper. The reason this particular issue is being talked about in collecting circles has been sitting on the cover since the moment it hit shelves.
The Cover Gift: A Galactic Marine with Backpack and Blaster
The included minifigure is a Galactic Marine, complete with backpack and blaster. These are the clone troopers of the Republic's 21st Nova Corps, deployed to the crystalline battlefields of Mygeeto under Commander Bacara and best known to most fans from their brief but memorable appearance in Revenge of the Sith. Their armour — heavy, snow-and-siege-rated, with a distinctive visor-slit helmet — has always been one of the more visually striking clone variants in the whole Clone Wars roster.
The version in the foil pack is the same core design that debuted in 75413 Republic Juggernaut, minus the waist capes some fans hoped for. That set was the only way to get one, and it is a large, expensive box that reviewers were broadly cool on. A magazine covermount is a dramatically lighter commitment for anyone who wanted the figure and not the vehicle it came bolted to.
What Makes This One Matter to Collectors
Three things push issue 139 above a routine month.
First, scarcity of the figure itself. Galactic Marines have been in demand on the secondary market precisely because their only source was a single, poorly received set — the classic recipe for a minifigure that trades well above what a covermount asks of you.
Second, army building. Clone collectors rarely want one of anything. Because a magazine issue is repeatable in a way that a large set isn't, this is a realistic opportunity to build out a Nova Corps squad over a few copies. You'll still need Commander Bacara from elsewhere to lead them, but the rank and file just got far more attainable.
Third, momentum. Issue 138's microscale Coruscant Guard Gunship teased this release, and issue 139 has already confirmed that issue 140 — due mid-August — carries a 327th Star Corps clone trooper from 75431 327th Clone Troopers Battle Pack. Immediate Media is running a clearly deliberate clone-heavy stretch, and buying in at 139 puts you at the front of it rather than chasing it later.
Why UK-Only Distribution Changes the Math
The LEGO Star Wars magazine is a UK retail exclusive. It moves through newsagents, supermarkets and subscription services — never through official LEGO channels internationally — which is why a covermount minifigure that is trivially available in Britain becomes a genuine hunt for collectors in the US, Canada and beyond. Print runs are finite and shelf life is short: once issue 140 arrives, 139 rotates off the newsstand and into back-issue listings, where availability and condition get a lot less predictable. A Practical Buying Note
If you're ordering from outside the UK, check the listing wording carefully. Some UK sellers and subscription services ship the print magazine without the attached toy — EU product-safety rules in particular mean figures are routinely removed before dispatch to certain destinations. A listing that mentions the Galactic Marine in the description isn't the same as a listing that guarantees the foil pack is still attached. If the figure is the whole reason you're buying, confirm that before you check out, and favour sellers who explicitly state the covermount is included.
